Airsoft FPS Converter (FPS to m/s, mph & km/h)

Velocity converter

FPS:  ·  m/s:
mph:  ·  km/h:
FPS to m/s, mph and km/h conversion lets you compare airsoft velocity across measurement systems. For example, 350 FPS is about 106.7 m/s, 238.6 mph and 384 km/h. Use the converter above to convert any speed between feet per second, metres per second, miles per hour and kilometres per hour instantly.

What Is FPS in Airsoft?

FPS stands for feet per second and measures how fast a BB leaves the barrel of an airsoft gun. It is the most common velocity unit in the UK and US, and it is what most chronographs display by default. A gun that reads 350 FPS fires a BB that travels roughly 350 feet in the first second of flight.

FPS only describes speed, not energy. Two guns can share the same FPS but hit with different force depending on BB weight — for power you need joules. If you want muzzle energy instead of raw velocity, use the FPS to joule calculator.

FPS to m/s (Metres Per Second)

Most of Europe measures airsoft velocity in metres per second (m/s) rather than FPS. Fields in Germany, France, Italy and much of the EU set their chrono limits in m/s, so converting is essential when you read a foreign field’s rules or buy a replica rated in metric units.

To convert FPS to m/s, multiply by 0.3048. So 328 FPS is almost exactly 100 m/s, a figure you will see constantly on European fields because it lines up neatly with a 1 joule limit on a 0.20 g BB.

  • 300 FPS ≈ 91.4 m/s
  • 328 FPS ≈ 100 m/s
  • 350 FPS ≈ 106.7 m/s
  • 400 FPS ≈ 121.9 m/s

FPS to mph and km/h

Miles per hour and kilometres per hour are not standard airsoft units, but players often convert to them out of curiosity — a BB at 350 FPS is genuinely moving at around 238 mph, faster than a Formula 1 car. To convert FPS to mph, multiply by 0.6818; for km/h, multiply by 1.0973.

Metric Field Limits (m/s to FPS)

If a European field publishes its limit in m/s, here is the equivalent FPS so you can set your gun on a chrono that reads in feet per second. Divide m/s by 0.3048 to convert back to FPS.

m/s FPS Typical limit
90 m/s 295 FPS CQB / indoor
100 m/s 328 FPS Common AEG cap (~1 J)
110 m/s 361 FPS Outdoor AEG
120 m/s 394 FPS DMR
130 m/s 427 FPS Bolt-action sniper

Always confirm the exact limit and chrono BB weight with your local field before an event — see airsoft FPS limits by country for a full breakdown.

FPS Conversion Formulas

Every airsoft velocity unit is a simple multiple of feet per second:

m/s = FPS × 0.3048  ·  mph = FPS × 0.6818  ·  km/h = FPS × 1.0973

To go the other way, divide by the same factor — for example, FPS = m/s ÷ 0.3048. The converter above does all of this in both directions automatically.

How to Use This FPS Converter

  1. Type a number into the Speed box.
  2. Pick the unit you are starting from — FPS, m/s, mph or km/h.
  3. Read the equivalent value in all four units instantly.
  4. Switch the input unit to convert metric field limits back into FPS for your chrono.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast is 350 FPS in m/s?
350 FPS equals about 106.7 m/s. Multiply any FPS value by 0.3048 to get metres per second.
How fast is 350 FPS in mph?
350 FPS is roughly 238.6 mph. Multiply FPS by 0.6818 to convert to miles per hour.
What is 400 FPS in m/s?
400 FPS is approximately 121.9 m/s.
What is 100 m/s in FPS?
100 m/s equals about 328 FPS, which is also the common 1 joule limit on a 0.20 g BB.
How do I convert FPS to m/s?
Multiply the FPS value by 0.3048. To convert m/s back to FPS, divide by 0.3048.
Why do European fields use m/s instead of FPS?
Most of Europe uses the metric system, so chrono limits are set in metres per second. 100 m/s (about 328 FPS) is a very common cap.
Is FPS the same as mph?
No. FPS is feet per second and mph is miles per hour. One FPS equals about 0.68 mph, so the two numbers are very different.
Does BB weight change the FPS conversion?
No. Converting between velocity units only depends on speed, not BB weight. BB weight only matters when you calculate energy in joules.
